Jesús Briceño Reyes

Jesús Briceño Reyes is an Artist-Teacher from the vibrant city of Caracas, Venezuela. His work explores the intricate connections between art and society, highlighting the relevance of traditional media in contemporary art practice.

Jesús holds a Master’s degree from Goldsmiths, University of London, and an MFA from the University of the Arts London. He earned his BFA from the National University of the Arts in Caracas, specializing in painting. Jesús has showcased his work in numerous galleries and museums across Venezuela, the United Kingdom, and the United States. His work has been recognized by institutions such as the CAF Development Bank of Latin America, the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) in Long Beach, California, and Bloomberg New Contemporaries at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), London.

Jesús is also the founder of Haciendo Ciudad, a non-governmental organization that uses art to revitalize public spaces and promote community engagement.

He recently completed an Artist-in-Residence program at SAC Gallery in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Jesús Briceño Reyes nace en Caracas en 1986.

Licenciado del Instituto Universitario Armando Reverón, UNEARTE, 2010. Posteriormente realiza maestrías en la Universidad de las Artes de Londres, Facultad de Wimbledon, 2014 y en Goldsmiths, con méritos, en la Universidad de Londres, 2015.

Ha desarrollado proyectos culturales, educacionales y de desarrollo comunitario en El Reino Unido y Venezuela. Fundador y director creativo de Haciendo Ciudad, ONG que transforma espacios públicos con comunidades a través del arte.

Expone en colectivas desde 2008 en Venezuela, Reino Unido y Estados Unidos. Individualmente destacan numerosas exposiciones en Venezuela y Reino Unido.

Internacionalmente fue seleccionado artista joven en los premios del Museo de Arte Latinoamericano MoLAA de California, 2008; y como finalista en Nuevos Contemporáneos del Instituto de Arte Contemporáneo ICA de Londres, Reino Unido, 2014. Vive y trabaja en Caracas.
